JKA Karate East Lothian is a family club dedicated to teaching traditional Shotokan Karate through concentrating on good basic technique, taught in an encouraging and supportive atmosphere.
Done properly, basic karate practice offers a good workout, promotes flexibility, assists with concentration and provides elements of self-defence training for encounters or situations outwith the dojo.
Beginners only need loose fitting clothes – and the first lesson is always free so you can see if this traditional martial art is for you.
A gi, or karate suit, comes later and can be secured through your club instructor.
JKA Karate East Lothian is affiliated to JKA Scotland and to the Japan Karate Association, headquartered in Tokyo and generally regarded as the heir to the Shotokan karate tradition first developed by Master Funakoshi Gichin and codified by Sensei Nakayama.
To see if this art is for you, call Sensei Bert Stewart on 07863-135269 , email him or arrange to turn up early for the classes listed on this site.
ALL INSTRUCTORS with Disclosure Scotland certificates, registered with the Scottish Karate Governing Body, and the appropriate qualifications for instruction.
