Squad training is a chance to develop and test your skills in a more intense atmosphere than normal classes. Reserved for brown and black belts only, squad training involves working with karateka from across Scotland on your kata, kumite and kihon, with the emphasis firmly on honing your skills for taking part in competition karate events. The key thing you'll need for taking part in squad training is enthusiasm.
While many of our more experienced karateka are competing at European level, and could be said to be elite athletes, they need to be pushed hard and a large turn out at squad training creates the kind of atmosphere that is needed to help people dig a bit more out of their talent and skills. Organised on a monthly basis, or sooner, depending on the proximity to major championships, squad training also allows brown belts preparing for black belt the chance to taste some of the pressure they'll experience in dan grading.
